This Is What It Feels Like

[Trance /  House Edition]
Sied van Riel
Past Present Future / Original Mix
Sied van Riel
Rotterdam / Spikecity, Netherlands
The Riel Deal: From the prolific electronic dance breeding ground that is The Netherlands, with close to overnight speed, in 2008 he landed. In that year alone he was tipped by Tiësto as “the hottest producer around”, by DJ Magazine as “the next big thing to hit trance” and took home Trackitdown.net’s Trance Award for the scene’s ‘Best New Face’. 12 lightning-fast months later he’d qualified all ...those early markers through a fleet of equatorially hot track releases, club-hypnotizing DJ performances and a ‘next-level’ remix ethic. In 2009 he played over 60 show-stopping sets (which included spinning at an incredible 7 world-class events in just 9 days). It was an achievement which culminated in him making his debut on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 2009 DJs chart. He’s the latest DJ to graduate to trance music’s ‘Van Clan’ hierarchy. He is Sied van Riel...

Michael Brun Remix
Michael Brun
Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

Michael Brun spent his childhood on the sun-drenched Caribbean island of Haiti. Born to a Haitian father and Guyanese mother who valued the love of music, his musical background stretched from the percussion-heavy Rara and Afro-groove music of his native Haiti, to disco and synth pop. He has played guitar and piano from a young age, and took up DJing and EDM production as a hobby at 16 while on th...e path for a career in medicine. After four years of hard work and experimentation, 20 year old Michael has been fortunate enough to receive continuous support from some of the most well-respected names in the industry, including Axwell, Kaskade, Dirty South, Sebastian Ingrosso, Tiesto, Avicii, Hardwell, Ferry Corsten, Alesso, Otto Knows, and Afrojack. His releases on Phazing Records garnered critical acclaim in 2012, with 'Rise', 'Burn Forever' and 'Synergy' all charting in the Beatport Progressive top 15, while 'Rift', his collaboration with label head and mentor Dirty South, sat at the top 3 Beatport overall charts for almost 2 weeks. He has also shared the stage with such notable names as Avicii, Dirty South, Tommy Trash, Thomas Gold, An21 and Max Vangeli and Nadia Ali. With the success of his music endeavors while a pre-med student at Davidson College, Michael, with the support of advisors and faculty at the college, decided to take a one year leave of absence at the end of his sophomore year in 2012 to pursue his music career. Now officially signed to It's Better Management and William Morris Endeavour, a forthcoming EP on Phazing due for release shortly before WMC, and exciting dates as both a solo artist and a member of the Phazing Records family, Michael is set for a breakout year in 2013.

Dusky
London, Britain (UK)
“Dusky quickly became the toast of the UK underground in 2012.”
Resident Advisor

“One of the UK’s most buzzed-about house acts.” XLR8R

... London based producers Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell are Dusky, a name that has become instantly synonymous with UK house and techno. If 2011 was the year Dusky marked themselves out as accomplished electronic musicians with their critically acclaimed "Stick By This" LP, then 2012 was the year that Dusky took over the dancefloor and cemented their position at the forefront of the house music underground.

Signed by the label that broke Maya Jane Coles (Dogmatik), the devastating deep grooves of "Flo Jam" were hammered by everyone from Jamie Jones, Sasha and Pete Tong to Disclosure, Joy Orbison and Boddika and even commercial acts like Calvin Harris; earning itself the unexpected title of iTunes Dance Single Of The Year.

History Of Trance Music:
Trance is a genre of electronic dance music  that developed in the 1990s in Germany. It is characterized by a tempo of between 110 and 150 beats per minute, repeating melodic phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track. Trance is its own genre, but also will include other styles of electronic music such as techno, house, pop, chill-out, classical music, and film music.
Trance is more melodic and harmonic than any other dance music. It refers to an induced emotional feeling, high, euphoria, chills, and uplifting rush listeners experience. Trance employs aural dynamics to a great degree, a characteristic of virtually all trance songs is the soft mid-song breakdown, beginning with and occurring after the orchestration is broken down and the rhythm tracks fade out rapidly, leaving the melody, atmospherics, or both to stand alone for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Another common characteristic would be the use of vocals often sung by a female who ranges from mezzo-soprano to soprano. Less often, the female vocals may be in a grand, soaring, or operatic style, which has been described as "ethereal female leads floating amongst the synths".
